About the event
A vegetarian street-food strip over a kilometre long with more than 300 stalls in the middle of Phuket Town, one of the main highlights of the island's annual fasting and vegetarian festival. It runs along Ranong Road from Public Market 1 (Ban San fresh market) to the Jui Tui intersection. Beyond the food, it ties visitors to Phuket's history, traditions and local identity, and puts money in the pockets of small stallholders through the festival days.
From the editors
Phuket City Municipality itself organises large cultural and food events, such as the annual Phuket Food Festival. The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is an annual nine-day tradition of Taoist and Hokkien Chinese origin: vegetarian fasting, rituals, street processions and shrine visits, with participants dressed in white.
