Residents of Si Sunthon and anyone who would like to help are invited to clean Tha Ruea Shrine together ahead of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. It is a community effort to care for the shrine and prepare the site for the ceremonies to come, with blessings for families and neighbours.

Tha Ruea Shrine is one of Phuket’s oldest Chinese shrines, with Taoist architecture and a large statue of Guan Yu. Si Sunthon Subdistrict Municipality is the local government body for the Si Sunthon area and takes part in community events. The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is an annual nine-day Taoist observance that has been held on the island for more than two centuries.
