The cleansing rite is held at Kathu Shrine (อ๊ามกะทู้) on 18 October at 19:00. Participants take part in the symbolic crossing of the 'bridge of peace' for good fortune and health.

Kathu Shrine is regarded as the oldest Chinese shrine in Phuket and the historical starting point of the Vegetarian Festival. The Phuket Vegetarian Festival (Gin Jay) is the island's best-known Chinese-Thai tradition, held across its shrines with rites and processions.
