About the event
Once a week the city's oldest street closes to traffic and Thalang Road becomes a walking festival beneath its floodlit Sino-Portuguese shopfronts. Southern Thai food, real handmade goods, portrait artists and street musicians — several spots are left open for anyone who wants to take the mic. Come after dark: by seven the street hits full stride and spills over onto parallel Phang Nga Road.

The Sunday Walking Street on Thalang Road is Old Town's best-known market and its most crowded: tourists and locals mixed, food, crafts and street musicians. Go on foot — parking fills early.
