About the event
The Phuket Vegetarian Festival at Yok Kae Geng Shrine centres on observing the precepts, abstaining from meat and taking part in traditional rituals. Participants make merit, carry on Phuket’s cultural tradition and seek blessings for themselves and their families.

Yok Kae Geng Shrine is a Chinese shrine in Phuket’s Rassada district that takes part in local cultural events, including the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is an annual Chinese Taoist observance with street processions, fire-walking and rituals at local Chinese shrines.
